In August 2015, the original Jungle Bay Resort which had been in operation for eleven years in Point Mulatre near Delices, was forced to close after it suffered extensive damage from massive mudslides during the passage of Tropical Storm Erika on 27 August 2015. There were forty-three (43) guests at the hotel during the passage of the storm, all of whom escaped without injuries.The new resort funded with revenue generated under the Citizenship By Investment Programme, was relocated in Morne Acouma, Soufriere and will consist of one hundred and twenty suites or sixty large villas.In an interview on Vibes Radio last week Mr. Raphael said hurricane Maria hit while they are in the rebuilding stage however he added, “Fortunately our new structures are sort of designed with a bit of strength in mind and so we did a little better than most.”Of priority right now he said is to resume construction as hotel rooms will be in demand soon. “Our projected opening date is December 2018 and though we’ve been set back six weeks or so maybe two months as a result of the storm we’re seeking to get back on track so that we can open around that time,” he explained.
