I’m excited to be in Las Vegas this week for the 20th Annual HR Technology Conference & Exposition. This is my fourth year as an HR Tech Insiders Blogger and this conference is one of the highlights of the year. It’s always great to learn about the latest HR technology trends and how they will benefit the workplace and the workforce. As the managing editor of the SHRM blog and producer of the weekly #Nextchat conversations, the information coming out to this conference will help me to deliver relevant content to our audience.I’ve created a few technology-themed #Nextchats over the past two months with experts such as conference co-chairman Steve Boese, UVA Darden professor Edward Hess and ADP business anthropologist Martha Bird, so they could share their insight with HR professionals — and so HR could share their experiences with what works, what doesn’t and what they’re looking at implementing in the future. If you’re trying to figure out how to build a build a better employee experience or talent acquisition tech stack, if you’re wondering how many MBA’s it will take to manage your factory full of robots, or if your HR chatbot needs a personality, then I encourage you to browse all the recaps. Also, join us on Wednesday, October 11 at 3pm ET/12pm PT for #Nextchat: Women in HR Technology.I’ve also conducted several Q & A style interviews, where HR thought leaders share their opinions on the future of technology and how it will impact the workplace. For instance, if you’re a small organization that’s still using paper for all your processes, and creating a plan to convert the whole mess to new HR technology, you’re not alone. Technology changes so rapidly that it can be overwhelming. What you implement today could be obsolete in six months–or less! Selecting the right HR technology for your organization is a huge and expensive task and it requires continuing education about selection, implementation and adoption. Tech vendors can provide valuable information about their products, a demo, and a list the features and benefits. This is an important part of the process. However, the best source of information is your network of HR peers who can share their successes and failures and provide impartial feedback and guidance. If you cannot attend the HR Technology conference this week, follow the #HRTechConf hashtag and the HR Tech Insiders Blog and bloggers, and @shrmkaylor on Twitter for highlights from the conference. HR technology is a major investment and the more you know, the better prepared you’ll be to design a strategy that will meet your organization’s needs now and in the future.
