FOUR BLUES NAMED OUA ALL-STARS

first_img Four members of the Varsity Blues earned all-star honours as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced 2019 women’s soccer award winners on Wednesday afternoon.Blues goalkeeper Levanta Staggolis and striker Jenny Wolever earned OUA East first team honours, while midfielders Miranda Badovinac and Maddie MacKay were named to the second team.A fourth-year veteran from Toronto, Staggolis earns her first career all-star nod in 2019. The kinesiology major started in 12-of-14 regular season games, earning six wins and four clean sheets. Staggolis ranked second in the OUA East division with a .865 save percentage this season.Jenny Wolever, a fifth-year striker from Toronto, earns her fourth career all-star laurel and first as a Varsity Blue. The Queen’s Gaels transfer made an immediate impact on the Blues roster this season as she co-led the squad with seven goals in 14 regular season games.Similarly, Miranda Badovinac, a third-year midfielder from Burlington, Ont., also made an immediate impression on the Blues roster. The life science major co-led the Blues with seven goals and has led Toronto’s post-season success, scoring the lone goal in the Blues 1-0 playoff win over Ontario Tech and notching two goals and one assist in U of T’s 3-0 quarter-final upset win over Queen’s.Team captain Maddie MacKay also garners her first career OUA all-star nod.
