Report Reply 0 replies · active 10 weeks ago +3 Vote up Vote down Robert · 10 weeks ago You really going to use protesting without regard to others as an example for having the great race. The health of Sumner County citizens and keeping everyone in the county safe IS more important than this event at this time. Amazing, another person thinking only of himself with complete disregard for others. Enough already is right. I hate that all of Jack Potucek and his friends hard work is being put on hold for a year, but Jack is a great individual and extremely brilliant and his decision-making in this instance has all of our health and welfare at heart, Jordan! Think, enough is enough. You shooting for another stay at home order? That will be here again soon enough thanks to people with your self centered mentality. Jack Potucek reported a series of difficult meetings and conversations have taken place resulting in the decision to cancel the race.  The on-going phase-out requirements of COVID-19, and the uncertainty of complying with the ever-changing requirements, make it difficult to justify exposing race participants, officials, supporting municipal and county departments and spectators (estimated at over a thousand at last year’s race) to unsafe circumstances.  Race officials advise that the relay is impossible to postpone to a later date due to many team members of college-age returning to campus in mid-August.On behalf of the Chamber and all affiliated with the race, we sincerely regret the cancellation of this enjoyable event.  All involved look forward to returning to the nine-mile race course with enthusiasm on July 31, 2021.Follow us on Facebook.Follow us on Twitter.last_img read more
