first_imgHome Sport GAA Stradbally native Delaney named new Barrowhouse manager SportGAAGaelic Football Stradbally native Delaney named new Barrowhouse manager TAGSBarrowhouseBilly Delaney Laois secondary school announces scholarship winners for new academic year By Alan Hartnett – 21st January 2019 Pinterest New Arles road opens but disquiet over who was invited to official opening Billy Delaney, the new Barrowhouse manager, pictured with Maeve and Aisling Delaney at the Laois GAA Sports Star Awards in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel in 2008 – Picture Alf Harvey The Barrowhouse footballers have a new manager.Stradbally native Billy Delaney will take the reigns for 2019 at the Kildare border club.Delaney is also a selector with the Laois U-20 footballers and will combine his duties to fulfill this role.He previously managed Monasterevin and Castlemitchell in Kildare while also had a spell in charge of Clonbullogue in Offaly.Billy was a selector with Stradbally last year and he takes over as Barrowhouse manager from another Stradbally man – John Larkin.He had been at the helm at Barrowhouse for the last four years and won the JFC title in 2015.After winning two successive IFC relegation battles in 2016 and 2017, Barrowhouse eventually slipped down to the junior ranks again in 2018 after losing out to St Joseph’s in the relegation final.Barrowhouse will be hoping to do what Annanough did last year and make an immediate return to the second tier of Laois football.
