State Says Exports Again High

HELENA – The state is reporting that Montana’s exports remain high after reaching a peak in 2008.The Montana Department of Commerce says that 2010 exports were 33 percent higher than in 2009. The $1.96 billion in exports for the year places 2010 just off the pace of 2008’s record $2.06 billion in exports.Gov. Brian Schweitzer said that there has been growth in exports to countries like Korea which is buying more Montana coal.Behind wheat, the state’s top exports are chemicals, industrial machinery, fuel and oil. The Commerce Department says that 2011 exports are so far on pace to top 2010 totals.Canada remains the state’s largest export partner. Emaillast_img
