Vice President for Academic Affairs and WorkforceSolutionsPurpose of Position: The Vice President for Academic Affairs andWorkforce Solutions serves as the chief academic officer of theinstitution and provides administration leadership and operationalmanagement for the College’s academic and workforce areas. The VicePresident directs strategic initiatives, long-range planningactivities and program development for the academic and workforceareas of the College; fosters an environment that motivates facultymembers and encourages innovative strategies for curriculumdevelopment and delivery; allocates resources, including faculty,staff, budgets, and space; and works collaboratively with others inthe College, local businesses and industries, the VirginiaCommunity College system, and the broader community to ensurecontinuous improvement of academic and workforce programs alignedwith the College’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. The VicePresident deeply values the engagement of faculty and academicleaders throughout the college/university in advancing a strategicvision and understands the role of academic leaders anddecision-making processes in institutional transformation. The VicePresident serves as an integral member of the president’sleadership team, working closely in conjunction with the remainingmembers to ensure harmonious and progressive leadership of theCollege. The Vice President works closely with deans and directreports to ensure a college community focused on studentdevelopment, learning, and success. The Vice President will applytargeted completion and retention strategies to strengthenenrollment in the service area.Duties include oversight of planning, scheduling,implementation, and evaluation of all credit and non-credit coursesand programs, academic support activities, and student servicesactivities at the college. This includes the preparation,management, and analysis of instructional, student services, andselected grant budgets.
